Bongo Club Bangkok is the very last bar on Sukhumvit Soi 33, on the right hand side past Teen Massage 3 shop, near the small alley that leads to Bistro 33.
The place used to be a Japanese-only karaoke bar called Hole in One or the 19th hole or something like that. Golf theme. It closed its doors a few months ago and Bongo replaced it.
Bongo Club is actually 3 bars in one: the ground floor is a beer bar and a pool bar, the second floor is a Coyote bar and the third floor is a Karaoke room, but this last floor is closed for now.
On the ground floor, Bongo Club doesn’t look nice and chic like the dead artist beer bars of Sukhumvit soi 33 (Gauguin, Renoir, Degas… or Napoleon but that’s another kind of artist!). It looks much more like a basic beer bar like the ones you’d find on Sukhumvit soi 4 or Patpong: a very large room wide open, two old pool tables, a small bar, no wall decoration, a few very tired sofas and small tables. Basic as it can be.
A bottle of Singha beer costs 150 baht and the hostesses/coyotes are available to sit with you and share a drink, except that theirs will cost you 200 baht.
On the second floor, the club is a bit newer and nicer with modern furniture and better lighting. The same hostesses/coyotes will join you upstairs, but instead of sitting they will be dancing and trying to arouse you enough so that you stay longer and spend more. Yes, you left the beer bar to move to the coyote club.
Prices are the same as on the ground floor.
It is a cheap version of a Gentleman Club for those who want to give it a try but can’t afford the Pent, the St Moritz and the likes.
As Bongo Club sees itself more like a Coyote Club than like a Beer Bar, barfine is not an option, and your chances to get back home with one of the hostesses later in the night are as small as they would be in an upper G-Club. Close to 0. That is the only thing that reminds you that you are on Sukhumvit soi 33, not soi 4.
